Paddle Demo for the Atari VCSNew page - April 21, 2008 Paddles are a bit interesting to handle on the Atari VCS. Newer systems had built in support for obtaining paddle values, typicall by reading a single register that returned a value between 0-255. On the VCS you have to manually discharge a capacitor and then time how long it takes the capacitor to recharge. This timing is done during the kernel(display routine) so paddle games tend to have less complex graphics.
